The Most Excellent Food Award!
provided by Morguefile.com |
So guess who got nominated by Lauren Stoner and Blessing Counter to do the awesome (or, as my friend Gerhard likes to say, MOST EXCELLENT!) food award? *Crowd cheers* I did! ;) Hehehe that was conceited of me…
Thank you Blessing and Lauren for the tag, I am really excited to do this! So here are the rules!
The rules:
1). Thank the person who nominated you, as well as link to their blog.
2). Answer the 10 questions provided.
3). Come up with 10 more questions that relate to food.
4). Nominate at least 5 people.
5). Let those people know they've been nominated.
I’m going to break the rules because everyone I would have nominated- has been nominated. ;) So I am just going to leave it be and let those who want to answer the questions answer the questions. So here we go! :D
Blessing’s Questions:
1. Chocolate or vanilla?
Ehhhh probably vanilla so I can put toppings on it. ;)
2. Favourite dessert?
Russian tea cakes! :D Seriously, they are the best. Ohhhh I love those so much…
3. Imagine that it's freezing cold, there's lots of snow, and you just came in from playing outside. Would you prefer to drink hot chocolate or coffee?
Hot chocolate, because coffee makes me sleepy. ;)
4. Favourite pie/cake?
Apple pie! :D
5. What is a dessert that you love making/is the easiest thing you can make?
I really enjoy making… apple pie! ;) Hehehe I made a ton of them this year because it was easy for me. I had so many apples from my work. ;)
6. What is a meal that you love making/is the easiest thing you can make?
My famous Yak Burger Quiche! Sooo good. It’s very simple to make, too. The quiche I make doesn’t take very long. I use several different types of meat- from pork to ham to chicken to bacon- but I like using yak the most. :)
7. Is there a food that you hope that you'll never have to eat in your life time?
Don’t ever make me eat sushi, please! ;)
8. The strangest dish you've ever eaten?
A Swedish dish of squash soup and Swedish hardtack. It was actually really good. That’s the only thing I can think up right now. ;) Oh, wait! My friend and I back when we were very little put cheese and popcorn on chocolate cookies. That was strange but kinda good. ;)
9. Favourite mealtime? Why?
I love dinner because my whole family is there. :) It’s so much fun.
10. How do you make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich? :)
By putting peanut butter on both sides of the bread and skipping the jelly. ;) I can’t stand jelly and peanut butter touching each other. Yuck. ;)
Lauren’s Questions:
1. What's your favorite type hot chocolate? (Dark chocolate, mint chocolate, with whipped cream, etc)
Uhm, I actually do like to put coffee in my chocolate but it does make me kinda sick and sleepy. It’s my favorite, though. ;)
2. What's your favorite type of sandwich?
Grilled cheese sandwich.
3. Favorite place to eat out and why?
I like McDonalds a lot for two reasons- it’s cheap and they support the hospital my sister is going to right now for cancer treatment. I can’t thank them enough for the money they donate to the hospital. I have spent a lot of time in the Ronald McDonald room at the hospital, and it’s meant a lot for us to be able to go in there and get a book and get some snacks.
4. Favorite Christmas cookie?
Russian tea cakes! Hehehe we only have these at Christmas. ;) They are kinda a cookie...
5. Favorite part of Thanksgiving day meal?
Shrimp salad! Oh my parents make the BEST shrimp salad on the face of the earth. I love it! :D
6. How do you eat your dinner? (do you eat each different food by itself or do you mix foods together etc,)
Uhm, I eat it. Like, I just eat it and don’t think about it. ;) :D
7. Favorite candy?
I really like those fruit flavored hard candies in the shape of bananas and stuff. I think they’re called Runts.
8. Favorite carnival food?
Cotton Candy.
9. Favorite food to make over a fire?
Burned hotdogs. ;) Just ask Rebekah Eddy about her siblings’ reaction to my smoked hotdog. ;)
10. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Quiche. Because it’s so good. :)
Okay, here are my questions.
- Describe the first time you ate a foreign food. What did you think?
- Have you ever eaten grass, cat food, or cardboard?
- Do you like to burn your marshmallows?
- If you were given the choice between the two foods you hated the most, which one would you eat?
- You were served a strange and suspicious dish at a diplomatic event. Do you eat it or pretend to eat it?
- Favorite drink? (Like milk or juice, not drink drink. ;D)
- Do you ever cook food that your nationality is fond of? (Like if you’re Mexican, tacos, if you’re Swedish, rice pudding, etc.)
- What’s one dish you really want to try?
- Ever eaten any strange sea creatures? (Like squid or octopus)
- Finally, you are supposed to prepare a very special dish from your family for a very important meeting. What dish would you choose and why?
Have fun! I had a blast answering my questions! Thanks for nominating me, girls! If you want to participate, copy the questions and either a) post them in your comment or b) post it on your blog. Can't wait to see what the answers are! God bless!
Oh what fun! I like your answers Emily. Apple Pie? Yummmm... AND grilled cheese sandwiches?! You're killing me! Rats...now I'm hungry... ;)
ReplyDeleteCan I answer your questions? Oh goody, thanks! ;D
#1. Describe the first time you ate a foreign food. What did you think?
This last year I tried Japanese food for the first. It was actually REALLY good.
A new favorite of mine. :)
#2. Have you ever eaten grass, cat food, or cardboard?
Heh heh...yes. I've eaten grass, AND cat food. :P Oh, and dirt too. I've eaten lots of dirt.
Purposely, and not purposely... ;)
#3. Do you like to burn your marshmallows?
Well, I've never had a "real" marshmallow, but I think I'd like mine burnt if I had one...
#4. If you were given the choice between the two foods you hated the most, which one would you eat?
Um...Well one dish I really don't like is called "I Don't Know" (really. funny name, no?) But I really
DON'T like it. Makes me sick. :P And another thing I don't like is any stuffing made by anyone but
us. Nobody makes Stuffing like Mom. :)
But if I HAD to choose, I'd pick the stuffing. It at least doesn't make me sick...
#5. You were served a strange and suspicious dish at a diplomatic event. Do you eat it or pretend to eat it?
I'd pretend not to eat it, or I'd maybe "accidentally" knock my plate onto the floor...
#6. Favorite drink? (Like milk or juice, not drink drink. ;D)
GOAT MILK!!! :D
#7. Do you ever cook food that your nationality is fond of? (Like if you’re Mexican, tacos, if you’re
Swedish, rice pudding, etc.)
Well, I'm not sure... We kinda cook a bit of everything. ;) Not sure what you'd classify my
nationality as though....
#8. What’s one dish you really want to try?
I don't know, but after reading your answers, I'd really like to try those Russian Tea Cakes. B-)
#9. Ever eaten any strange sea creatures? (Like squid or octopus)
EWW! Nope.I've had the chance, but they look...SO gross... :P
#10. Finally, you are supposed to prepare a very special dish from your family for a very important
meeting. What dish would you choose and why?
I think I'd choose our family's favorite Chili recipe. We bring it to potluck at church, and almost
never have any left over. it's a family, and friends, favorite. :)
I liked your questions Emily! :D
Have a great day! :)
Hahahahahaha, I LOVED your answers, Megs! :D I like how you'd pretend to eat the food or drop it. *Gasps* ;) Your answers were so humorous. Thanks for commenting!
DeleteYou have a strange reaction to coffee Emily...never heard of it making someone sleepy! #6 (of the first set)--Do you really use Yak?! If so where in the world do you get it? Oh and totally agree with you on sushi!
ReplyDeleteHaha.. I know what she means... that happens to me too ;)
DeleteLydia, I don't know why but coffee just makes me really tired. My head and heart start pounding, I have trouble thinking straight, and then I start talking like crazy before I crash. ;) It's just strange. I think it's because I'm borderline ADHD (it's been known that if you have ADHD that caffeine has the reverse affect on you) that happens. Also, the yak meat was from a gal I worked for. She paid me in yak meat. It was really good. :) Thanks for commenting!
DeleteBethany, the coffee thing happens to you, too? *Gasps* we must be related! ;)
DeleteYup... My Mom was doing some research on it and it turns out that having weak adrenals is the most common reason for caffeine putting people to sleep... actually the reaction you described to Lydia is exactly... and I mean to the T what happens to me whenever I drink anything caffeinated. SCARY ;) yea we must totally be related... we even both love horses and are into history... I've been loving all your stories... I have been very intrested in the Russian history but until recently had not really taken the time to learn about it... your blog has been fun and educational for me :D
DeleteInteresting both you Emily, and you Bethany. It actually sounds to me like you have the same reaction to coffee that everyone else does just a high-speed version. I suppose you might say I have an unusual reaction to coffee too--absolutely nothing. I don't get sleepy and I don't stay awake. -_-
DeleteWell Bethany, since we now know we're related (hahaha joking. ;D) if you ever want to talk history, horses or writing to me, or even coffee, I'm always HAPPY to talk on just about any subject! :D Especially history, it's so much fun! I'm glad you've learned some things from my blog, that's the highest compliment I can receive from anyone. :)
DeleteLydia, haha, that's probably nice for you not to get either reaction. ;) I like coffee but for the most part avoid it. A close friend who really does have ADHD has the same problem I do, were he goes to sleep after having it. Whereas my sister goes off the walls after having coffee. So no reaction is probably the best. ;)
Describe the first time you ate a foreign food. What did you think?
ReplyDeleteI think it was an indian dish... they called it pulse... its the main staple for the lower class over there... and it was TERRIBLE
Have you ever eaten grass, cat food, or cardboard? Yes, Grass, and cardboard,,, and I tried dog food instead of cat food... but this was all when I was MUCH younger ;)
Do you like to burn your marshmallows? NO
If you were given the choice between the two foods you hated the most, which one would you eat? Hmm I don't even know which foods I hate the most... he he... I am kinda picky ;)
You were served a strange and suspicious dish at a diplomatic event. Do you eat it or pretend to eat it? I might try it.
Favorite drink? (Like milk or juice, not drink drink. ;D) Chocolate milk in the summer... Hot chocolate in the winter :D
Do you ever cook food that your nationality is fond of? (Like if you’re Mexican, tacos, if you’re Swedish, rice pudding, etc.) Not really...
What’s one dish you really want to try? can't think of one...
Ever eaten any strange sea creatures? (Like squid or octopus) Yes... Squid,
Finally, you are supposed to prepare a very special dish from your family for a very important meeting. What dish would you choose and why? pasta with Tomato cream sauce, and chicken parmigiana.. cause normally you can't go wrong with Italian food ;)
Loved your answers, Bethany! So I'm not the only one who's eaten cat food, cardboard and grass? Good to know! ;) We did that a lot when we were little. ;) You seem to be a chocolate lover from your answers... ;) Thanks for commenting!
DeleteThanks for doing the tag, Emily! Your answers were hilarious, as usual! :) Hmm...popcorn, cheese AND chocolate cookies? I think I can honestly say I've never heard of such a combo before :P What does yak taste like? (you're not going to say chicken, are you, because lots of people like to tell me that all kinds of meat taste like chicken :P )
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed, Blessing, and thanks for nominating me! I had a lot of fun doing that. ;) Yak tastes really good, kinda like elk and beef put together. It's a very lean meat so it doesn't have a lot of fat in it, but it's red so it has a lot of good flavor to it. It's just soooo good. :) Kinda like chicken. B-)
DeleteThanks for commenting!
1. Hmm. Our family hosted a Japanese student last year and she made us a meal called gomokozushi. It
ReplyDeletewas rice in little wrappers and really good. She also made miso soup which was... interesting.
2. No, but my friend once talked me into eating a post-it note in the middle of church.:)
3. YES!!! The ONLY way to eat them.
4. That would have to be spana chorizo, a rice-and-tomato dish, or raw fish sushi. I would probably go with the spana chorizo.
5. Pull a Mr. Bean and drop it behind my napkin like he does with the oysters.:)
6. Chocolate milk.
7. I'm part Swedish and I really like rice pudding. I'm also part Mennonite (German) and I like farmer sausage.
8. Umm...poutine? I'm Canadian but I've never tried it.
9. No, fortunately.
10. Garlic-herb pasta. It's really good and really easy to make.
Thanks for answering the questions! Hahaha I like your "Mr. Bean" answer. ;) I think Molly did that in American Girl as well... not sure about that. It's been years since I read those books.
DeleteThanks for answering the questions and commenting! Loved your answers. Hope to see you around more on the blog! :)
And P.S. on question number seven- you're Swedish/German? That is sooo AWESOME! I'm Swedish/Norwegian/Irish/Mexican! So we may be related! ;) Hehehe. I call myself the Irish Mexican Viking. ;) But seriously, the Germanic nationalities are so rich in history and culture. Plus who doesn't LOVE German sausage? I love German sausage... ;)
DeleteI am mostly German with a little English mixed in :) But I don't think I have ever had German Sausage... guess I'll have to try it... we don't eat much German food.
DeleteOh, that's so cool, Bethany! I just love nationalities so much. I love learning about them and their cultures. You must try German sausage, it's the BEST! :D I guess we can kinda be related because Swedish and Norwegian is considered a Northern Germanic nationality. So we can be related, too! ;) :D
DeleteThat;s funny! I'm also part Irish...;)
DeleteI'm part German too! Lol. We might ALL be related, except that I'm like Lydia. Coffee has no reaction from me! I hope to answer the questions later! Thanks for doing this, I love reading your answers! They are (like Blessing said) as always fun!
ReplyDeleteWell, in a way, we are. We're all children of God so wow, you're like my sister! ;) :D Hehehe. I have lots of sisters and brothers and they're all so cool! :D I can't wait to read your answers and I'm glad you enjoyed. :)
DeleteYou can put toppings on chocolate too, can't you? ;) I agree with you on the PB&J (without the J) and Apple pie!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of shrimp salad. What's in it? Other than shrimp, hehe. :D
1. Describe the first time you ate a foreign food. What did you think?
What exactly is considered 'foreign'? I've eaten Mexican food which is awesome! If I don't get it often I can't function. (Okay, that's a bit dramatic B-))
2. Have you ever eaten grass, cat food, or cardboard?
Grass, yes. No cat food (almost once though...it was a terrible *almost* experience.) I don't think I've eaten cardboard, but it's possible. I have eaten paper. :)
3. Do you like to burn your marshmallows?
Yes!! Of course!
4. If you were given the choice between the two foods you hated the most, which one would you eat?
Well the two foods I hate the most are blue cheese and...I can't think of anything else at the moment. :( So I'll go with whatever it is that I can't think of, because blue cheese crumbles made me gag... *shudders*
5. You were served a strange and suspicious dish at a diplomatic event. Do you eat it or pretend to eat it?
I would taste a very small portion first to see if I liked it. ;)
6. Favorite drink? (Like milk or juice, not drink drink. ;D)
Iced coffee! Or milk. :)
7. Do you ever cook food that your nationality is fond of? (Like if you’re Mexican, tacos, if you’re Swedish, rice pudding, etc.)
Well, I'm not even sure what my nationality is! :P Daddy says were mostly English with Scot-Irish and German, so I really don't know. Mom makes kraut though, and that's supposed to be a German thing.
8. What’s one dish you really want to try?
Umm...*racks brain, comes up with nothing*
9. Ever eaten any strange sea creatures? (Like squid or octopus)
No squid or octopus. I have eaten alligator but that's not a 'sea' creature. :)
10. Finally, you are supposed to prepare a very special dish from your family for a very important meeting. What dish would you choose and why?
Uh, I have no clue. :) Maybe sweet-potato casserole. Or chicken and dumplings.
This was fun! Thanks for posting Emily! I loved reading your answers. :D
Thanks for commenting, Faith! Loved your answers as well. Hahahahaha I loved your answer to number five. If I ever meet you I'll serve you a suspicious dish and make SURE you try it first. ;) Thanks so much for answering!
DeleteOh, and Shrimp Salad is basically shrimp in a salad with some kind of salad dressing that to this day I can never remember what it's called. It's sooooo good. It's a Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter tradition at our house! :)
