Trail ride

Image
About two weeks ago my neighbor called me up and asked if I'd like to go on a trail ride with her. "Sure, where to?" I'd asked. Turned out, she wanted to haul the horses to place I'd never been to. In fact I'd only heard about it once or twice, from a friend who lived not too far away. And Bodie has this thing about leaving his pasture buddy. He gets crazy. I was nervous. Should I do this? I wondered. I'd always wanted to go on a haul-in trail ride. I've always ridden around home, out in the fields or into the woods. The only other time I'd hauled in for a trail ride was years back on a horse that wasn't mine for a fun ride with a friend. I'd never actually taken Bodie on a haul-in trail ride before. How would he do? Would he be crazy and bad and would he take off with me on the trail? I knew he hated leaving Mia behind, but would he be fine if we went with another horse? I didn't know. I was a bit afraid, but I said yes, I'd g...

Bethany Stelzl! Bodie: What do you think you're doing up there? Emily: This is so much fun! Due to the amount of things I'm doing right now, I may be sporadic in updating this blog. But I'll still be here! :)

Okay, here's the next Caption This post, brought back by popular demand. ;) (Okay, perhaps not, but everyone seems to enjoy these.) What is Emily and Bodie thinking in this photo?

Meet the Animals!

Crazy Curls!

Well, here's what happened when I took the braids out this morning. :) Bodie be like, "Yuck, this is not a manly hair style!" Actually he likes his curls, he always gets real showy when I do this. ;)

How to Drive Your Horse Crazy

I'm back! Actually, I've been back from camping for a while, but I still haven't managed to get a hold of any camping pictures to show you, particularly the ones from the amazing lightning show we got one night. But I will tell you this- our camp trip contained lots of animals, birds, swimming, fish, thunderstorms and randomness. :) Today I decided I would braid Bodie's mane. And not just any braid, I wanted to do button braids. I thought it would be really fun to do those on Bodie, so I got the brush out and began working. And working . . . And working. . . And working . . . And working some more. During the process of brushing his mane, making the pony tails and braiding them, Bodie began to get annoyed with me. "Hang on, I'm almost finished!" I muttered more than once. He'd then proceed to drag me across the yard while he grazed and tried to escape my flying fingers, which had currently gotten tangled in his mane while he walked a...

From Words to Picture to Reality

I'm currently working on a random story for the How To Train Your Dragon archives on fanfiction. Ordinarily I don't doodle my characters, but I was having so much fun creating Katyenka, a Cossack 'Rider of Kiev', (instead of a Rider of Berk. Ha!) that I had to draw her! Katyenka and Zakhar, my two Original Characters from the How to Train Your Dragon story. Does Zakhar look somewhat familiar? ;) He should, he's based off of Bodie. Well, I couldn't just stop there. No way! Now I had to do another picture, this time with Hiccup and Toothless in it. So back to the drawing board I went. Katyenka and Zakhar, Hiccup and Toothless. I'm not quite so good at dragons, but I thought I did an okay job for a first timer. :) Katyenka is a Cossack, a Slavic freedom fighter from a long time ago in Russia/Ukraine. They're actually quite a fascinating group of people, I love studying their culture. As you can see from both pictures, Katyenka is dressed in tr...
