Independence Day

And no, I'm not referring to the movie. I'm referring to our national holiday, Fourth of July, America's Birthday, Freedom Day and Independence Day!

May the Lord bless you on this special, special day. May you enjoy a good barbecue, lots of pretty fireworks that don't make fires, and that you remember why we celebrate this day. I listened to a good program on Moody radio this past Friday about Fourth of July, I encourage you, if you have time, to listen to it:

In the Market with Jannet Parshall

Oh, and for a side note, this is one of my FAVORITE shows to listen to on Moody radio. ;) If you want to get the news but not have to listen to the terrible spin the secular world puts on it, I recommend this show. Very good for getting a Christian perspective on the news.

Our founding fathers went through so much to give us our freedom. More importantly, they wanted us to have religious freedom. In this day in age we tend to hear a lot about how freedom is disappearing, and this may be so, but oh, people, we are still so blessed. People tend to get irritated with the phrase "I am proud to be an American", and think Americans are arrogant. Again, this may be so in some cases, but there is so much to proud of! We are Americans, we do live here, and we love our country! We can say with pride and joy we are proud to be Americans, but even more so we are proud to have Jesus Christ as Lord and savior, and he is our founding father!

May the Lord bless you on this wonderful, wonderful day. I am planning on getting back into writing a blog post once a week on Mondays, so expect another post next week! God bless, my dear readers!

  1. Happy Independence Day, Emily!!! I'll have to check out the radio show. :)
Yes!!! I totally agree with everything you said! I'm proud to be a Christian, first, but my pride in being an American is a close second. We still have freedoms here in America that most of the wold does not have. Even though we as a people have turned away from what we used to be, I still love our nation! :)
I hope you and your family had a wonderful Independence day celebrating our freedom!! :D

My Dad got interviewed on that show! I don't know if you would have heard him, but his name is Peter Mead and he was being interviewed about the book he wrote 'Pleased to Dwell'... I'm a long time stalker, first time commenter on this blog, and I do enjoy reading all the stories and other things you put on here! Keep up the good work!
