“Aileen, go tell Damhán if he wants something to eat he better get out of bed,” Breandan warned. He turned to her, spatula in hand. “It’s a serve-it-yourself style.”

“Okidoki.” Aileen hopped off the counter, stuffed the last piece of bread into her mouth, then ran down the hallway to Damhán’s room. She flipped the hallway light on and skipped into the bedroom, a mischievous grin on her face. Damhán was lying on his back with one pillow under his head, all his blankets on and the other pillow in his arms. It was too good not to pass up.
Aileen waltzed right up to the sleeping figure of her older brother and snatched the pillow out of his arms. Damhán opened one eye to glare at her.
“Hey you!” Aileen sang out. She took the pillow and smacked him in the face.
“Aughmmmphhh!” Damhán sputtered. The other eye popped open and he sent her a smirk. “Not nice.”
She knew that look. Before he got a chance she jumped out of the way, barely missing the well-aimed kick for her knee.
“Come over here so I can break your leg,” he threatened.
“Nope.” She giggled and hit him in the stomach with the pillow, dodging his arm and dancing out of his reach. “Nope, nope, nope!”
Damhán tried to kick her again, but she continued to do her little waltz around the room, well away from his immediate radius.
“So mean,” Damhán snorted. “Get closer, Aileen, so I can do something bad to you.”
Aileen pretended to go for his feet, then hit him over the head again. She jerked the pillow back and laughed.
Damhán’s smirk grew wider. He put his hand to his blankets. “Come here, Aileen,” he said, his voice dripping with malicious intent.
This was her cue to leave.
“Noooooo!” Aileen did a one-sixty and fled the room, the sound of Damhán’s feet hitting the ground seconds after she left the doorway a sure sign he was coming for her. “Save me save me save me save me!”
She screeched as Damhán tore out of his bedroom after her. She made a beeline for the kitchen, zipping past Ciarán. “Save me save me!
“Eh,” Ciarán muttered.
She slid around the kitchen counter and ran towards the study room, catching the tail end of Breandan’s warning, “Don’t go in there, Bran is studying…”
Studying! Perfect!
Aileen burst into the room, Damhán still a good three seconds behind her. She leapt onto the couch next to Bran and threw herself against him, just as Damhán’s figure filled the doorframe.
“Base, base, base!” she hissed.
Bran groaned and ripped his headphones out of his ears. “Children, go out,” he ordered. He snapped his book shut and bonked Aileen on the head. “Go play somewhere else.”
“You heard him, go out, you’re making noise! Go away go away!” Aileen squeaked, but Damhán would have none of it.
He lunged at his little sister and tickled her sides, laughing. “Aileen, you need to be quiet! Bran’s trying to study! Why aren’t you being quiet, Aileen? You’re making so much noise. Aileen you’re so disobedient!”
Aileen gasped for air between laughs and squeals, trying to keep her voice down and push Damhán away. He grabbed her feet and began to tickle her there, her worst spot.
“No stop please, stop stop!” she begged. “Mercy! Mercy!”
Another book came crashing down on Damhán’s head. He shook it off and pushed Bran away, grabbing Aileen by her legs and dragging her off the couch upside down. “We’re leaving already, big brother. I’m sorry she’s so loud. Gosh Aileen where are your manners?”
“Aughhhh!” Aileen grabbed Damhán’s arms to keep her head from dragging on the ground. “You won’t get away with this!”
A sudden thought popped into her head. She stuck her hand in her mouth, then smeared spit all over Damhán’s arm.
“Eww gross!” Her tall, teenaged brother dropped her to attend to the slime. “Why you little-”
Aileen took this opportunity to shoot between his legs and run for the kitchen, searching frantically for her next weapon. She spotted it on the counter, next to the dirty dishes. Aha!
She barely had her hands closed around it when she felt a big hand close around her shoulder. “You little squirt! Did you think you could really escap- whoa! Gross! Ewww, Aileen!”
Aileen fell back on the floor, laughing her head off as Damhán tried to wipe the sour cream she’d plastered his arm with. He looked at his arm, down at her, and then plunged for the spoon in her hand. “Your turn!”
“You wouldn’t dare!” she yelped. Dodging his grabs, she threw the spoon backwards into the sink, where it splashed into the dishwater with a satisfying plunk.
Damhán wasted no time pinning her to the ground, his creamed arm in the forefront. Aileen realized his intent and screamed.
“Not my hair! Don’t get it in my hair I just showered!”
“Oh, whooopppsss,” said her brother, wiping his arm across her cheek and ear.
The cold and wet feel of sour cream dripped down her cheek and onto the floor. It felt like a slimy alien kissing her cheek. She squealed again and put a hand to her face. “Ewwww!”
“Haha, you had that coming to you.” Damhán got off of her and headed for the towel rack.
Aileen sat up, spied a napkin, and pulled it off the counter, giggling to herself. She grimaced a bit when wiping the cream off, only to find it had also gotten into her ear. “Ewww there’s cream in my ear!”
“Sorry.” Damhán grinned and held up his arm. “I’m all better.”
With a sneer just as big she pointed to his elbow. “It looks like you spilled milk all over yourself. It’s still there.”
He picked up the towel and wiped off the leftovers.
A hand pressed down on her shoulder. Aileen looked up just in time to see a white paper towel before it encompassed her face and began to scrub at the spot where the cream had hit its mark. “Ohhh that’s cold water!”
“How did you get cream in your ear?” Aichear murmured, leaning down to work at the white mess. He had obviously not been there to witness the previous run of the bulls throughout the house.
“Damhán just smeared cream all over me for no reason!” Aileen tried to muffle her laughter. “He’s just so mean. And immature.”
“Sure, sure, no reason,” Damhán mimicked. “No reason at all. You just happened to plaster me with sour cream and hit me in the face with a pillow. No reason at all, rigghhhttt.”
Aichear put the paper towel down and picked up the dry napkin she’d been using to get the rest off. He didn’t say anything, but he gave Aileen a somewhat perplexed and “I-don’t-believe-you-had-nothing-to-do-with-this” look.

“Hey Damhán.” Aileen turned back to smirk. “I creamed you.”
She managed to duck as the roll sailed through the air, but Aichear wasn’t so lucky.
“Oops.” Damhán flashed a lopsided grin. “Missed.”
Aileen stepped out of the way and watched as Damhán hightailed it out of the kitchen, Aichear on him like a dog after a cat. She laughed, walked over to where Breandan was finishing up the tortillas and climbed onto the counter.
“I told Damhán,” she announced.

Breandan’s lips twitched. “No, really?”

The End

A/N: So this was just a random I idea I came up with tonight after everything you just read really happened. Well, except for the fact that it wasn't Damhán and Aileen who got into such a mess, it was in fact myself and my second to oldest brother. :) After the whole incident and while I cleaned the sour cream out of my ear, I realized it would make a great story for Damhán and Aileen. So that's where it came from. Also, thanks to my wonderful new drawings by my friend Felicity Annora, I now have some new pictures to illustrate my stories with! :D Thank you sooo much Felicity for my new Mornelly pictures, I love them!

Hope you enjoyed. :) I hope to do a little more blogging in the coming month but we shall see. Still on my internet break. I'm only on the internet on Saturday and Wednesday. :) Thanks so much for reading!

    1. Funniest yet, really? Oh, just wait until "When in Germany..." But that's another story. ;) I'm sooo glad you liked it, Megs! I had so much fun writing it! And yes, I did that to my brother... but like Damhan, this is the brother who stuck my head in the toilet and put smoke bombs in our playhouse and all kinds of other things. I have come to avenge the early years, wahaha! ;) Thanks for reading and commenting!

He stuck your head in the... Maybe I'm glad I never had a brother... ;)
Kidding! I think having a brother would have been fantastic!
I can't wait to read your other Mornelly stories!! :D

  6. Oh my goodness, this is so funny! And I can so totally see this happening in our family! We've had a few incidents like it before. . .B-)
I like the new pictures!! When I first saw the picture of Damhan, I actually thought it was Aichear without glasses. Then I read the caption. ;) I LOVE the pictures!!! Aileen's is sooo cute!!

    1. Felicity made all the family members look related! I can't wait to put up some new bios for the Mornellys to give another "fun" introduction, but from the perspective of another character... ;) So yes, Damhan and Aichear look similar, as do everyone else. It's really neat!

Thanks so much for reading and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! Yes, I think most of us with siblings can relate to what happened in the story above... ;)

    2. Oh, cool! I can't wait to read them!! :D

Hehe, yeah, probably. :) Although I've yet to have it happen with sour cream. So far it's been mud, iced tea, coffee and milk. . . ;)

    4. Okay, I never did milk... I'm not that sacrilegious. ;)

    5. Now I'm trying to figure out how in the world milk is sacrilegious?

    6. Hahahaha, I meant I love milk so much I would never throw it at someone. ;) I was joking. ;)

    7. Oh, okay. ;) Well, I wasn't actually the one who threw it. . . I was the one who got drenched in it. ;P

  7. Hahahaha! I laughed SO hard while reading this!! :D I loved it! And this really happened in the McConnell household? Even funnier! My brother and I have pillow fights, and he has been known to drag me around the house by my feet, but I'm pretty sure my mom would NOT be pleased to find us smearing each other with sour cream... B-)

I loved the story, Emily! Maybe even my favorite of the Mornellys so far. :) Aileen and Damhan are officially my favorite. ;) Thank you so much for sharing it with all of us!

    1. Favorite so far, wow! I'm so glad you liked it! Hmmm I will have to keep that in mind for future stories I write. :D And USUALLY we don't smear each other with sour cream, but when your brother is thirty-one and is about to attack you, I kinda feel like it was warranted. And Aileen is justified as well. I understand that girl. ;) Thanks so much for reading and commenting! It means a lot to me!

  8. I really enjoyed this story. The adventures of the Mornellys are easy fun to read :) Hahaha "wars" like that with your siblings are the best! Sounds like my family except we use Nerf guns instead of sour cream ;)
Thanks for writing this up and posting it!
Your family is still in my continued prayers :)
