The Votes Are In!

Between the poll and the comments, I tallied up the score. Here are the results.

Question: Should I make the blog public or not/change it up?

NO: Five votes
YES: Six votes
NOT SURE: Three votes
EITHER IS FINE: Four votes

Yes wins by one point; The Wild Washingtonian is going public! I'm so excited to begin this journey with you all, thank you so much for putting forth your answers. But...

The blog is going to need a new name before I go public.

I think for my writing career I don't really want to expound on where I live too much. Y'know, in case those bad guys try to find me. ;) So I'm giving the blog a new name. My family is going to help me pick a name and I will reveal it on Monday. Also, a new post is going up Wednesday that I hope you all will check out. It's pretty fun.

Thanks for the votes and the comments. You all are the best!

  1. I've spring-cleaned and organized my blog once and for all. I "unfollowed" (finally figured THAT out) about 35 blogs from YEARS ago, some which do not even exist any longer! Whoosh!
But I'd like to follow your blog, but you don't have a place for me to do that (to add it to my Reader List). And . . . why are there so many "Things" on this post a comment page, like your archives. Shouldn't that be on the actual blog?

  2. And it is driving me nearly crazy to see my picture show up on your blog comments, but NONE of them show up on mine. Even though they worked perfectly on my "test" blog of the exact same template. Something's fishy in Blogger land, I suspect. Grrrr.

  3. Oh, wait. Okay. I get it. The comment page is on the main page too. Interesting . . .

  4. My vote is to get yourself some sidebars so folks don't have to scroll so far down the page to see stuff. :-)

  5. Haha, thanks for all the comments, Andi. I have no idea how the "Add to Reader List" blog thingy works. I never could get it to work on my blog(s). I don't even know how to get it. :)
As far as the sidebar things go, I got this template from a different website than blogger. I actually uploaded this template myself and added the codes. I don't know how to change the sidebars without altering the code. Sorry about that. :) Thanks for the comments, though! The only way I know how to follow blogs is to copy the blog address, go to my dashboard on the blogger website and paste it manually into "add blogs". That's all I know to do. ;) Hope that helps!

    1. Do you both mean the "Followers" tab? If you were looking for that, it can be found on the "More Gadgets" button under the "Gadgets" tab in your blog layout.
      Hope this helps! :)

    2. Yeah, if you go to your blog layout, click on "add a gadget" then click on "more gadgets". If you scroll to very the bottom of the first page, there is something called "Followers". Just add it to your blog :)

    3. Oh, thank you girls! Finally! I've been trying to figure out how to use that for years. Thank you girls! <3

Yay! I'm happy for you. You can turn some of your post into pins if you want to get your website out more. I found lots of writing blogs that way, and it's pretty easy to do. I'm not sure how fast you want to be public, but that is one way to get it out there! :)

    1. I noticed that from your pinterest. I definitely will do that, soon as I finish up designing my site and changing a few things. Thanks for the suggestion, JT! :D

  7. Can't wait to see the new name! I was wondering though, does that mean you'll be creating another blog? Or is it possible to change the blog address on this blog?

    1. You can change the blog address and name separately.

    1. Thanks girls! The cool thing is, I can change the blog's name and blog address (the blogspot address) without changing the blog. I'm really glad about that. Thanks for commenting!

    1. Thank you, Bethany! And thank you for understanding, I think this is best for now to just keep this blog and the posts I've done. It helps build my platform as someone who does know how to blog. :)
