Goodness I expected to blog so much more after I got married because I thought my life would slow down. Nope, I was wrong. XD Heelloooo blog readers! Long time no see! So, where to begin on updates? Right after our first kiss! Rifka and Lina! Lucas and I got married on February 2nd and have now been happily married for eight months to the day. We have moved once since we've gotten married and have acquired two new family members---Rifka our Karelian Bear Dog/Shetland Sheepdog mix and Lina, our crazy tri-colored tabby with far too much energy for a normal cat! Over the last eight months, I have been sick with the flu, mono, and countless colds and sinus infections but since seem to be on the rise with better health, a huge praise! Lucas was promoted at his job and is now a foreman, and enjoys making jokes about how unbearably hard and cruel of a foreman he is. As I sit here and write this, in the back of my head I know  the laundry buzzer has gone off and there's a load of laundry waiting for me. Also, I sense my little sister R's impatience for me to finish up with what I'm doing so I can put a movie on for her. She's dancing around the room currently and contemplating what movie she wants to watch. Tonight I need to go and get sandwiches made for "the man's" work tomorrow. I also need to think about making some side dishes for dinner. And as I contemplate these things, I look at my blog and I look at my old posts and think, Oh, Lord, how much you've changed in my life. That's right, people. You read this post correctly. My good friend Ivy Rose and I are hosting a NaNo makeup, where you can set your own word count and join us from January 15th through February 15th and get some writing done! My New Year's goal was to write 500 words a day, so I thought, why not try to get a lot of that knocked out early? After all, you can never write too much. ;) Per suggestion by my friend Ivy, we decided to partner together and get some writing done. For there is no better encouragement than having a fellow writer slave away  work beside you to reach a goal. So if you want to get some extra writing done before camp NaNo in April, join us! Well it’s been a long time, blog readers! Sorry I’ve been lacking in my blog posts, I hope to get back into my regular schedule, but we shall see. ☺ First off, I just wanted to say thank you all soooo much for the prayers for my family and little sister. It means sooo much to us. Also, thank you everyone for the birthday wishes, that was one of the most special things that’s ever been done for me. Because of R’s immune system counts my parents told me we couldn’t really have a party for my twentieth birthday, so imagine my shock and surprise when I got all these birthday emails on my birthday! I was blessed beyond anything I can even begin to explain to you all, it just meant soooo much to me. ☺ I saved each and every one of those emails to cherish forever! Wowy wow wow wow, I can't believe I'm finally  ready to host another "Write this Piece!" music assignment. Sorry I haven't done one of these in so long. So I've been gone from this for a long while... Hi readers! Let me re-introduce myself- I'm Emily and I haven't blogged here for a while, so in case you forgot me it's nice to meet you all again. ;) No really, sorry I haven't posted in a month. Life has been... shall we say hard, crazy, stressful but full of small little God things? My little sister R. is going through some pretty hefty chemo. She's been very sick the last month and has lost all her hair. She is tired of treatment and is pretty grumpy, often taking out her frustration on my parents, who are exhausted from the little sleep they've gotten. So that's been pretty hard. Prayers still appreciated for R. and my parents especially. Apples with... porcupine quills in them? A story for another post... ;) On the bright side, I had a wonderful  month of work and we are now done with apple season! We made apple sauce with caramel, caramel apples, apple cider, apple cake, celebrated Johnny...

Alrighty! I LOVED all the entries that everyone send in! Some of them made me laugh, they were so funny. This has been the toughest one to arrange into an order I thought to be appropriate, because all of them were great. :) Thanks for everyone who entered! So the assignment was to write a story four hundred words or less off of this dialogue prompt: “How can you be so ignorant?” “I prefer the term ‘blissfully unaware.’” Everyone had such a different idea on it. It was truly so much fun to read all the ideas. :) So, without further ado, the entries!

Well, I've been very quiet on blogger the last two weeks! It has been hot  in my hometown, and we've had tons of fires around here. Plus, I've been working, along with the usual writing and riding and stuff, so I have been quite busy. But today, I am presenting my newest line of writing prompts and assignments! I have been working on this for a while, and I think you're going to like it! Introducing- The Say What?  Assignments!

We're back! Yay! A/N: (When you realize you refer to yourself like there's multiple versions of you... Scary. ;D) Ahem, back to the subject. I took  lot longer to get to this post than I was planning. My job has been a bit more time consuming lately (thinning apples takes  a lot  of time) and I have been writing other things. But I'm back now, so let's wrap this series up! So we've now covered why villains are important, why making a good villain character is important and what villain is best for what type of story. But here's a question that someone raised up and one I was going to address, anyways- what if I don't have  a villain?

We're back with another bad guy post! Wahahahaha! Originally, I was going to invite Dzherri to help me write this post, but since he was bad and hijacked the blog last week I decided not to include him. (For those of you who don't know, Dzherri Alexandrovich Kalasky is one of my main and favorite villains I've created. You pronounce Dzherri as Jil-e-at.) Plus, you guys should not have encouraged him. Not good. Now I've got a real problem on my hands... Ahem. Back to the subject. So, last week, we discussed how character drives a story and how you can use the most common bad guy story, but if the character is good, you have power in your story. Now, this week, we're going to talk about the different types of bad guys and which one is good for what kind of story.

Hello everyone, we're back for another post on villainy! I hope you enjoyed the last one. (To read the last post, click HERE ) In the last post I discussed the importance of creating a villain. I also pointed out that most- if not all- villains seek and want some sort of power. You can rip apart any villain's back-story and in a way, they're seeking some sort of power or another. But how do we use the age old tale of power, revenge, love, etc. Without having a stereotypical bad guy? That's what today's post is about. Today we're going to talk about how to make your villain unique.

I've been thinking about bad guys lately. To those who know me, this is not a surprise. I am known throughout my circle of friends as the "girl who loves bad guys." Not because I literally like bad  guys, but I do really love bad guys.  There is a difference. Trust me. I love helping people with their writing. Some of the little kids I've helped throughout the years at different homeschool groups or churches would come to me and ask me to read their stories for them. One thing I noticed, and continue to notice, amongst beginning writers, is the lack of a good villain.

I received some great entries this week for the latest Write This Piece, assignment six. WOW! Fantastic job, all of you! I love how everyone has a different idea in their minds of what the music could contain. :) Like always, I ordered them in order of the way I think portrayed the music best in my view. Everyone is a winner in my eyes, you all do so well. :) First off, I’d like to congratulate first-time entrant Lydia for her wonderful piece, Secrets. Fantastic job, Lydia! I loved this piece because it was short and to the point- but so powerful and intense. I really loved it! I was so excited reading this. :D

So finally, we’re ready for another Write this Piece! Assignment. Yay! The song I picked out for you this week is good. And scary. I think you’ll enjoy it a lot. I get chills whenever I listen to it! Once more, here are the rules.

I promised you all I would explain why I'm taking a break from Fourteen Cossacks this month. Well, I got my conformation email today, so here is the post I promised. As many of you know (and for those of you who don't) I have been working on a novel, titled Free, for the last year in hopes of getting it published. (To read about anything to do with Free and see some samples from the book, you can click HERE ) It currently stands at 95,000 words and 260 pages. It's about fourteen-year-old Cynthia Worley, a girl living in enemy occupied America who has no idea what freedom is or why it matters. Free is one of many books I've written, but it's the only one I've ever spent this much time on. Two weeks ago I finished the third edit on it and I'm working on finalizing all the pieces that need to be done.

I got several GREAT entries for Assignment 5 in the Write This Piece! series. Originally I thought I'd gotten eight entries... but when I went back and looked, I only counted five? Somehow I miscounted. I thought for sure I had eight entries in all. I don't know. Please, please forgive me if you sent in an entry and somehow I misplaced it. Our family is going through a lot of things right now and I am having a hard time keeping track of my own personal life. I have no idea if I had eight entries or only five. Whatever the case, all the entries I received are great, and if I received others but didn't include them in this post, let me know and I'll post them in another post.
