July/August: Part One

Image
It's time for another big long picture catch up post! I'm going to do three separate posts on this: two for what's been going on since July and the other is a post about the fires in Washington. (I have a picture of every single fire I've seen this Summer... and there's been a lot  of them.) So to get started, let's go through July!

Update

Hello blog readers, I have a quick update on my little sister R. R is home now from the hospital, they sent her home on Saturday. She is happy to be home and is responding quite well to the Chemo treatment. We're so happy to have her back. She often has lots of doctors appointments throughout the week, which she doesn't like too much, but the staff at the hospital is amazing and so very nice to her. Thank you for all your prayers. We really, really appreciate it. :) R smiled when I told her that "people love you! They're praying for you!". That made her very happy. <3 Thanks again for praying. I'm hoping to resume my regular blogging schedule soon, but we'll see. There will be another Mornelly post sometime soon, I have some short(er) stories to post on them. Thanks again for praying and for all your support. It means so much to us!

Prayers and Praises

Image
Dear blog readers, This past week has been probably one of the most trying ones for our family. We've been through a lot this past year, with the passing of my Grandfather and Uncle and a cousin, but I'd like to ask for prayer for my little sister R. You might remember me asking for prayer for her earlier this year when she had a really bad fever. R is twelve and has Down Syndrome, a disability that makes her act younger than she is and she has problems growing and processing things. This past Wednesday my sweet little sister R was diagnosed with  Acute lymphoblastic leukemia  and is even now going through Chemo as I write this. It was a shock to the entire family and the doctors- no one would have ever guessed. To think that R, who already has Down Syndrome, could get cancer, is mind blowing. It's terrifying. It's scary. It hurts inside more than I care to tell. She doesn't understand why she has to stay in a hospital, why she has to be hooked up to an IV o

Stranger

Stranger by Emily McConnell Image provided by MorgueFile.Com She wasn’t familiar with the man who sat in the back row at church that Sunday. He seemed to know all the songs they sang, when to pray, and nodded his head solemnly during the message. After the service, Briana hung around her father and the other men stood talking to the visitor. “I’m new to the faith,” he was saying. “I came to this church to see how Christians live out their lives.” Briana nodded in approval. He picked the right church. The small congregation on the border town of Newport was a very conservative non denominational Christian church. Briana had attended other churches in the past that claimed non denominational status that she’d left in a state of confusion and surprise, shocked at the liberties the Christians in those churches took. This new Christian man had come to the right place if he wanted to see how Christians were supposed to live.

The Balance Beam

Image from MorgueFile.com Psalm 37:1-2 1 Do not fret because of those who are evil, or be envious of those who do wrong; 2 for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away. We read this at church yesterday. I was sitting with my family, and we’d just finished a great worship session. We had a lot of praise go around the room, and my heart soared with happiness. It was the first time in a long time that I felt very joyful at church- guilt and sadness have been some of the latest church experiences I have had due to several aspects of my life. As we got ready to close, the man leading worship today read the verse above. Wow, I thought. Wow… this is… this is exactly what I needed to hear. I read it over again to seal it into my mind. Do not fret because of those who are evil…

I-6: Legend of the Mornellys- Chapter Ten

Chapter Ten In which Sean says goodbye to the Mornellys The Mornellys seemed anxious to get Sean back to his own home, speaking of”tremors” and how it was going to be “soon” when they’d be thrown back into their own time or dimension or whatever they referred to it as. “The magnetic field’s unstable. We’re not going to be here much longer,” Breandan had murmured.
