Happy Thanksgiving!

Image
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! What are you thankful for? I am thankful for my family, my friends, my horse, my chickens, my cat that recently showed up again, my stories and for a loving God that is so long-suffering and patient with me. He has never given up on me, no matter how self-focused, selfish and bad I can be, He has never forsaken me or left my side. Thank you God for always being there for me! One of my fondest memories I'm thankful for this past year. My first time galloping through a wheat field. It was on my bucket list of things to do like my characters from my stories. :)

The Snow Shines Red: Scene Two

Here's the second scene from my abandoned story, The Snow Shines Red. Hope you enjoy! To read part one, click HERE . He sat there in the sunshine on the beach, watching the children splash in the water. The gentle touch of her hand on his shoulder caused him to look up into the eyes of his one true love. “Hi," she greeted, sitting down next to him. “I got your call and came as soon as I could. What’s up?” Ian’s heart began to hammer as he thought about what he was going to propose. “Well, I just wanted to see you. Make sure you get out of that stuffy apartment of yours.” Loni laughed. “Is that all? I thought you had something important you wanted to tell me.” “I just wanted to be with you.” Loni sobered up and the couple sat in silence for a minute. “That’s sweet of you Ian," she said quietly. “I wish we could see each other more often.” “I’m thinking of moving to Seattle," he commented casually. “I like Olympia, but it’s too far of a drive to come a

Good morning faithful blog readers! I just wanted to share what I saw when I looked out the window this morning. It's SNOWING!!!! :D First snow of the year! (Well okay, not exactly, we had a slight dusting two weeks ago. But this one is accumulating!) Hope you're having as good as a morning as I am! :)

Ice Breaker

I woke up this morning, checked the thermometer- and discovered it was five degrees outside. Thus has been our life for the last week. The mornings have been in the single digits, the afternoons in the twenties. I think yesterday was the first time in a week that we hit almost freezing point, (thirty-two degrees) but not quite. I think we were thirty yesterday. This of course leads to some very interesting chore times- particularly involving the horse's water trough. We have two water troughs, one with a heater and one without. We can't plug in two heaters or we'll blow the fuse out and break the outlet. So one trough has to go without a heater. I volunteered mine as the heaterless trough, as it's smaller than the other one. So as of late, this has been my morning chore for the last week. Hope you enjoy. :)

To Me, It Was a Tuesday

Okay, some of you may want to strangle me for this, but I don't really have any more Keller and Kathy scenes for you. I have a lot of random tiny scenes, but not enough to post on here. Sorry about that! What I do have is this random one-shot I wrote for one of my favorite characters- Dzherri Kalasky. There is this blog I really enjoy getting writing prompts from. It's called For All Your Writerly Needs! on Tumblr. (Some things are not appropriate on there- the author is not a Christian and though he/she does put up some great posts, there are some not good ones there, too. Use discretion if you go to the site.) One of the things this author posts are really fun character questions. I've done a couple of them, highlighting different characters and writing scenes about them. I thought I'd share a couple of those, too. This one is about Dzherri, a former Russian (ha, I don't have any attachment to my Russian characters or anything...) ambassador. He was kind of

Story One-shots

Well, I've started editing Free this past week. I think I'm on chapter ten, but it's just a rough editing. I'll get into deeper work soon. At the same time, I've been playing around with several random ideas, writing different pieces down and one-shots. A one-shot is a scene that you write that doesn't have an entire story included. It's just one scene, one "shot" in that person's life. It's like a photo, showing only part of someone's life. A teaser. I thought I'd share some of my story ideas and one-shots with you today. I may make a series of posts revolving around my one-shots. Some of them may even become entire stories. One idea has already sparked fourteen pages of random scenes and fun stuff. Okay, here are some of my story ideas: Regret : Young Regret "Reggie" finds herself caring for her two-year-old sister and on the run from the foster agency, determined to make a new and better life for herself and her
