You Know You're a Writer When-

Most everyone of you who reads my blog writes to some point or another. That's what brought most of us together-a love of writing and reading. I think it's time we compile the list of 'You Know When...' and YOU tell which one of these applies to you! Then I'll have a grading session at the end to determine what kind of writer you are. Good luck! You know you're a writer when... 1You see someone on TV who you think looks just like one of your characters. 2 You read a book and are certain that writer ripped you off somehow. 3 You think of your characters as your friends. 4 You reenact a scene from your story and do the dialogue for all the characters. 5 You watch a movie with your friends and you can't stop saying, "I'm totally using that line in my book." 6 Your mood depends on what's going on in your book. 7 You'd rather write than watch TV. 8You cry while you write a sad scene in your story. 9 You get mad when someo...

The Child in All of Us. . .

Image
How many of you love to play with toys from when you were little? How about watching movies that you watched when you were younger? I always thought it's important to embrace our youth and to embrace what we used to be. I can't say I was ever embarrassed that I still watched Fivel Goes West or other cartoon classics like Balto, and I can tell you for certain that all of us young adults still at home (ranging from 10 to 22) still sit down at the Television to watch Bambi and newer kids movies like Kung Fu Panda and Ninjago. Never, ever be embarrassed that you still have a bit of kid in you, because that's how God made you! One of my favorite quotes about growing up was from the movie Fivel Goes West when the father mouse was talking to his son. If growing up were easy then why does it take so long? How true! Growing up is hard but full of fun experiences along the way. We need to be happy with where we're at right now, not what we were before and what we'll be i...

Fall in Washington

Image
Now I know I haven't posted a long time, but that doesn't mean we haven't collected a lot of photos to show you all! Here's what fall is like in Eastern Washington, and what we do to celebrate it! Thanks to M.M. for taking all the pictures, you're the best! Time to put the tomatoes in the bucket! (Note the horse in the background. What's wrong with this picture? ;D) One of our many beautiful sunsets. At a girl's retreat at Priest Lake, Idaho. I felt like I was at Loch Ness! :D Myself in a teepee us girls found in the woods. Trying to make a serious Indian face here, like in the movies. :) Trees in the fog. An afternoon on the Bluff. The Burning Bush in our yard. It's so RED! The Elk herd, near our house. Peekaboo! The deer sees you! Our cat has decided she likes my sister's horse. This is evidenced by the next picture... Because now she's settling in for a nap! :) The fog risin...

Thought of the Day. . .

Image
The computer is alive! YES! Actually, it's been alive for a while but I have not had anything I felt like I could share. Today though I came across something on a friend's profile that smacked me right in the face as one of the most inspirational things I've read in a long time. Have a good day and I hope this blesses you like it did me. -Emily

Another Update. . .

My dear family, friends and readers- our computer decided to die and that is why I haven't been posting anything. Only one other computer lets me sign into my blog (the computer my sister owns and needs for her work) and so I have been having no end of troubles. Therefore that is the reason no one has heard from me for a while. :) I have been missing from the Andi's Blog and this one because I can't comment on them from our other computer. Rest assured that when the computer is fixed I will start posting again and commenting again when everything is fixed. :) Thank you for your patience and God bless! With love, -Emily

Trust in the Lord . . .

Image
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. Prov. 3:5 It sounds easy enough, but how about when your knocked off your feet and you're staring into the face of a disaster? When your dreams seem to be impossible after so much promise and hope? Trusting God in those situations are the most crucial decisions we'll make. It's hard to trust when we're so overwhelmed we just don't understand. It's hard to trust when we can't see what good hardships will come to. I am currently going through a rather difficult time in my life, and I'm learning that it's easy to say 'I will follow God and see if this is what He wants for me' when everything is going well, but much harder to say those same words when you're facing loosing your dreams. I might lose my dreams, but I have to believe that there's a reason and God has something better planned for me. I have faced trials like this in the past, and time and ti...
