It's About Time...For an Update!

Image
Goodness I expected to blog so much more after I got married because I thought my life would slow down. Nope, I was wrong. XD Heelloooo blog readers! Long time no see! So, where to begin on updates? Right after our first kiss! Rifka and Lina! Lucas and I got married on February 2nd and have now been happily married for eight months to the day. We have moved once since we've gotten married and have acquired two new family members---Rifka our Karelian Bear Dog/Shetland Sheepdog mix and Lina, our crazy tri-colored tabby with far too much energy for a normal cat! Over the last eight months, I have been sick with the flu, mono, and countless colds and sinus infections but since seem to be on the rise with better health, a huge praise! Lucas was promoted at his job and is now a foreman, and enjoys making jokes about how unbearably hard and cruel of a foreman he is. (Lucas being bossy is the farthest thing from his personality as could be humanely possible.) Lu...

Mornelly Fan Stories: A Week With My Guardian- Part Seven

To read the previous part, click HERE . NOTE FROM EMILY: HE IS RISEN!!! HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!! :) Part Seven: Sunday In which my guardian goes to church and then returns to the fourth dimension I reluctantly got up early on Sunday morning, knowing that there would be little enough time to have breakfast and make myself presentable without having a late start by sleeping in. Once my usual preparations were finished, I walked out with coffee to see how the Mornellys were doing. I found Bran looking dashing as usual in a suit and a tie, trying to get Ciarán and Damhán to dress nicer than they were. Ciarán, in a black hoodie and black jeans was refusing to cooperate, as was Damhán in a tee shirt and blue jeans. “I want us to make a good impression in Rebekah’s church, but the way you are both dressed will only bring disgrace on our family name!” Bran was saying with arms crossed, his back to the door.

Mornelly Fan Stories: A Week With My Guardian- Part Six

To read the previous part, click HERE . Part Six: Saturday In which my guardian helps me with books and planning Saturday mornings are the only mornings of the week that we get to really sleep in on, so I didn’t wake up until past eight. When the sun finally managed to find its way through the blinds and across my eyes, I woke up groggily. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw the alarm clock said it was 10:47, but then I checked my phone and it told me the correct time (8:14) and figured out that the power must have gone out sometime during the night. I could have figured out when, but my brain didn’t want to work full time yet…and besides, I didn’t really care anyways. After my pulse returned to it’s normal tempo, I was very awake and ready for the day to begin.

Mornelly Fan Stories: A Week With My Guardian- Part Five

To read the previous part, click HERE . NOTE FROM EMILY: Happy Good Friday, everyone. It is finished! <3 Part Five: Friday In which my guardian and I discuss writing and immortality I was at a loss about what to do with the Mornelly siblings. After an almost sleepless night, tossing and turning over what to do, I finally gave up and promised myself I would talk with Breandan the next morning and decide what to do with his help. “Breandan,” I sighed, plopping myself down on the ground beside him helplessly. “I need your help.” “It certainly looks like you do!” he answered, his eyes twinkling in good humor. “What do you need my help with?” After breakfast the Mornellys had all dispersed to different parts of the property. Damhán and Ciarán decided to have a swordfight with my brothers and even Aichear and Bran had put up their books for the morning to join in the fun. Meanwhile, the rest of us were sitting around on the grass, enjoying the beautiful weather that ...

Mornelly Fan Stories: A Week With My Guardian- Part Four

To read the previous part, click HERE . Part Four: Thursday In which my guardian learns how to shop in 21st century America “Ok everybody,” I said, walking into the study and clapping my hands for attention. “It’s time for us to do some shopping.” After prayer meeting at church last night, I had come home worried that the Mornelly family had disappeared. They hadn’t, much to my relief, and in the three sleepless hours following that scare I finally had time to think up an activity for us to do together. After all, I didn’t know how much longer they would stay with me at the time. A groan came from Ciarán. “You mean I have to interact with strangers? Is this shopping trip optional?”

Mornelly Fan Stories: A Week With My Guardian- Part Three

To read the previous part, click HERE . Part Three:  Wednesday In which my guardian learn how to play riggamarole I awoke to my alarm buzzing and my two older sisters’ grumpy commands to turn it off immediately. I did so, slid from bed, grabbed a clean change of clothes, and then tiptoed down to take a shower. Dad was already up and making coffee, so I bid him a good-morning before waking myself up the rest of the way with a warm shower. By the time I was done, most of the rest of my family was up, and some of the boys were already having breakfast. Since our family already had their coffee done up in a neat row of five mugs, I started a second pot for the Mornelly boys. While waiting for it to drip through, I thought about more things to do with my special guests. We had already cooked something, taken a walk in our woods, had swordsmanship lessons, played football, and talked about books. What now?

Mornelly Fan Stories: A Week With My Guardian- Part Two

To read the first part, click HERE . Part Two: Tuesday In which my guardian and I cook something with Aileen During the morning, after breakfast, I brainstormed for things to do with my friends. A notebook handy, I walked out to the study and found all of them awake, drinking the coffee I had brought out to them earlier and the older four browsing the books in Dad’s study. Aileen was still peacefully asleep, and Damhán looked like he had already done something to get himself on the wrong side of his oldest brother. He was sulking in Dad’s study chair. I stood in the doorway until Breandan noticed me and came over with a smile. “May we come inside now? Is your family ready?”

Mornelly Fan Stories: A Week With My Guardian- Part One

Well look what we have here, the first ever Mornelly fan story! I was contacted by Rebekah Eddy some time ago (you may know her from her blog, Rebekah's Remarks and the numerous tags she tags us all in. :D) and she asked my permission if she could write a story about the time she spent with her favorite Mornelly brother and personal guardian, Breandan Mornelly. I am delighted to post this for her on the blog and I think the Mornellys are rather pleased, too. Hope you enjoy! A Week With My Guardian by Rebekah Eddy Dedicated to the Mornelly family and their author Emily McConnell Part One: Monday In which I meet my guardian and he gets a haircut After finishing my school for the day, I left the house to walk around outside. I was getting tired of sitting and wanted to get some fresh air and exercise. Besides, my brother Maxwell wanted to join me after his school and toss a football back and forth. Swinging my arms in time to the tune I was humming, I made ...
